With six hours of sleep last night, Tyler M., Jake and I were ready for the day. There was only one problem: Our alarms went off but we did not wake up. We received a call on the hotel phone and Rob said we needed to be in the lobby at that moment. In all of two minutes we were dressed, groomed, and on the ground floor with the rest of the group. We talked to Maestra and Señor when we arrived in the lobby and they said we could eat breakfast. Obviously we were not the only students that didn't wake up on time. We finished our meal and we returned to the group with the other students who were late. We waited for 15-20 minutes for a bus near the hotel and when it came, we got on.
El viaje a Segovia duró dos horas y fue una buena oportunidad para dormir. Llegamos a Segovia y estaba lloviendo mucho. Nosotros paramos en un bar para comprar agua, chocolate caliente y otras bebidas y conocimos a 2 ciudadanos de Segovia, uno fue un amigo de Maestra y Señor. Ambos el hombre y la mujer sabían mucho sobre el Acueducto de Segovia que vimos y también la ciudad. El Acueducto es una grande arquitectura de los Romanos y la estructura transporta el agua de las montañas a la gente de Segovia. Para mi, fue un poco difícil de entender por sus acentos fuertes y la velocidad con la que hablaron.
The trip to Segovia took two hours and it was a good opportunity to sleep. We arrived at Segovia and it was raining a lot. We stopped for coffee, water, hot chocolate and other beverages at a cafe and met two citizens of Segovia, one that was a friend of Maestra and Señor. Both the woman and the man knew a lot about the Aqueduct and also the city. The aqueduct has the architecture of the Romans and was the structure that carried the water from the mountains to the people of Segovia. For me, it was a little difficult to understand our guides because of their strong accents and the speed with which they spoke.
Entonces el grupo y los guías fuimos a una Catedral muy hermosa. Como el acueducto, la arquitectura de la iglesia fue muy complicada y sofisticada. El arte y ventanas de vidrieras que ocuparon muchas capillas fueron magnificas. Después de la iglesia, caminamos al Alcázar de Segovia. El Alcázar tiene buenísimas vistas de toda la campiña. Nosotros sacamos fotos y entonces entramos al castillo. La casa del rey, reina e infantes fue muy bonita pero no me siento como una casa para mi. Hacia mucho frio en el castillo y los cuartos eran muy grandes. Sin embargo, los techos fueron extravagantes y el interior fue muy bien decorada. La historia sobre el infante que se cayó del balcón y murió fue muy horrible, especialmente cuando vi el balcón de donde se cayo. Nosotros escalamos muchas escaleras para aprovechar las vistas arriba del castillo y entonces caminamos a un restaurante para comer el almuerzo.
Then the group and guides went to a beautiful Cathedral. Like the aqueduct, the architecture of the Catherdal was very complicated and sophisticated. Art and stained glass windows occupied the many chapels inside the church. After the church, we went to the Alcazar of Segovia, where there were great views of all of the countryside. We took pictures and then entered the castle. The house of the king, queen and their children was very nice but it did not feel like much of a home to me. It was very cold in the castle and the rooms were very large. However, the ceilings were extravagant and the interior was nicely decorated. The story about the boy who fell from the balcony and died was very horrible, especially when I looked down over the balcony to the ground hundreds of feet below. We climbed the many stairs up to the top of the castle for great views and then walked to a restaurant to eat.
En el restaurant algunos del grupo y yo comimos un cerdo –cochinillo asado. Isabela, Jessie y Nick cortaron el cochinillo con un plato. La próxima cosa que ocurrió me sorprendió. Isabela tomó un paso atrás y entonces ella rompió el plato en el piso! No sabia que era una tradición muy común. La comida fue buena pero la experiencia fue mejor. Después del almuerzo salimos de Segovia lluvioso de Madrid en el autobús y todo el grupo (incluso Maestra) durmió en el autobús.
Some of the group and I ate a pig for lunch. Isabella, Jessie and Nick cut the pig with a plate. The next thing that happened really surprised me. Isabella told us to step back and then she threw the dish at the floor! I did not know it was a very common tradition when cutting a pig. The food was good but the experience was even better. After lunch we left rainy Segovia for Madrid on the bus and all of the group (including Maestra) slept on the bus.
Cuando llegamos a Madrid, tuvimos tiempo para una "siesta", tiempo para hacer lo que queríamos. Hoy Tyler, Jake, Noah P. y yo caminamos por la Gran Vía y compramos recuerdos y comida. Hubo una manifestación y mucha policía en una parte de Gran Via, pero fuimos alrededor de ambos. Ósea que no hubo ningún problema. Después de la siesta, el grupo fue en la Plaza Mayor para la cena. Comimos tapas, comidas tradicional de España, y disfrutamos del ambiente del Plaza Mayor.

There was a protest going on and many police were there on a part of Gran Via, but we walked around all of it. So there was no problema. After the siesta, the group was in the Plaza Mayor for dinner. We ate tapas, a tradition of Spain, and enjoyed the atmosphere of the Plaza Mayor.
Entonces, fuimos a uno de los restaurantes mas viejos de Madrid para comer churros con chocolate. Los disfruté mucho!!! Hoy pudimos experimentar una gran parte de la historia y cultura de España. Ahora es el momento de irme a la cama a dormir…. ¡Hasta mañana!
